EVENT COLLATERAL DESIGN

As art director and booker manager of the infamous [KONTROL] parties in San Francisco during it's seven year lifespan as one of the States' leading techno monthlies (2005-2012), I was responsible for the entire look and feel of the event as well as booking most of the lineups. The monthly event quickly gained the reputation as being one of the States' leading techno events, known also for the unique and special flyer artwork.
As there were close to one hundred events in that seven years, this slideshow is just a selection of what I believe are some of the better flyers.
Upon.You (DE)

Marco Resmann's fine Upon.You record label holds residencies at two of Berlin's greatest dance music institutions, Watergate and Panorama Bar. I have been designing all event collateral for the imprint, including collaborative off-Sonar events in Barcelona. Each venue has a different vibe and feel, so the posters are meant to reflect that. Panorama posters are more dark and deep, while those for Watergate are more vibrant and colorful.
Sunset / Pacific Sound (US)

For the past two decades San Francisco's Pacific Sound and Sunset crew have been organizing some of the Bay's most legendary dance music gatherings. From outdoor events in beautiful locations, to boat parties circling Alcatraz, to proper sweaty warehouse undergrounds, this group of DJs has become synonymous with San Francisco House music. It was a great priveledge to be able to design their promotional collateral for a season.

When San Francisco house stalwarts Chris Smith (Shiny Objects, OM Records) and DJ M3 (Green Gorilla) teamed up to open a new club in San Francisco, they hired me as their art director for event collateral. I was responsible for the look and feel of most of their weekly events, in-house promotional posters and more. The venue's decoration and logo has a strong art nouveau meets steam-punk feel, so all design had to follow suit. This slideshow is just a selection of what I believe are some of the better flyers.
